Hiking

My first post, y’all!!!

I’ve changed the title of this initial blog post like ten times already and I’ve rewritten this intro a dozen times as well.  I’m struggling with where to start.  So here goes nothing…

My Dad took my sister and I hiking and backpacking from a very young age.  We lived in Golden, Colorado, and we were all over the foothills.  I attended Girl Scout camp where, not even kidding, we did an intense backpacking trip during one of the rainiest Colorado summers I’ve ever experienced.  I did Outward Bound when I was fourteen where we backpacked and spent a small amount of time solo.  Somehow despite this upbringing, I have become a novice backpacker and I’ve spent less time hiking than I would like. It has been years since I strapped on a pack and took off. This is in part because I’ve been busy having small kiddos and because I’ve found myself living in the Houston, Texas area where the hiking is minimal. I plan to overcome obstacles and become an expert backpacker and to continue taking my kids, and sometimes ditching them, for adventures! This blog will take us on my journey of relearning how to backpack and will detail my hikes and various excursions with and without the kiddos.
